Job Title: Survey Instrument Person
Job Summary:
The Survey Instrument Person fulfills a field role involving survey equipment operations and aiding the Survey Party Chief with calculations and associated surveying tasks. This role entails adjusting and operating instruments like theodolite and electronic distance-measuring equipment. Additionally, they gather data, create sketches, and input information into computers. The responsibilities also encompass recording survey measurements and descriptive data, as well as compiling notes and sketches.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, and inked tracings.
- Search for section corners, property irons, and survey points.
- Position and hold the vertical rods, or targets, that theodolite operators use for sighting to measure angles, distances, and elevations.
- Lay out grids and determine horizontal and vertical controls.
- Assists in conducting surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and man-made structures on the Earth’s surface, underground, and underwater using electronic distance- measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Requires 1+ years of related experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
