Job Title:  Junior Estimator

Job Summary:  

The Junior Estimator is responsible for doing quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitations, estimate set-ups, post-bid follow ups, and assisting in the estimating process.

Duties and Responsibilities:      

• Perform quantity takeoffs for Excavation, Paving or Utilities divisions on projects that are being estimated.
• Perform similar takeoffs on projects that are under contract for the purpose of determining pay quantities or plan changes.
• Assist project estimators as needed in bid preparation, including but not limited to contacting sub-contractors, contacting suppliers, setting up spreadsheets, and recording bid tabulations.
• May be required to attend pre-bid meetings and pre-construction meetings.
• May be required to pick up plans for bidding or deliver bids at appropriate time and place.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 0-2 years in highway construction-related field.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation required.
• Working knowledge of Excel required.
• Must be able to organize and manage multiple requests and deal with more than one estimator or project manager.
• Must be accurate and able to meet deadlines.
• Must deal with external owners, engineers, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner.
• Working knowledge of AgTEK a plus.
• 4-year degree Engineering or BS in Construction Management required.
