Job Title:  Plant Maintenance Superintendent

 

Job Summary: The Plant Maintenance Superintendent will oversee and coordinate the daily operations and maintenance of plant equipment, including concrete, crusher, and asphalt plants. This role involves managing maintenance schedules, resolving operational issues, and ensuring plant equipment operates efficiently to meet production goals. The Superintendent will work closely with engineering teams, contractors, and site personnel to maintain safety standards and optimize performance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including concrete, crusher, and asphalt machinery.
  • Plan and coordinate scheduling, deployment, operation, and maintenance of personnel and equipment.
  • Ensure that plant machinery is maintained properly and identify equipment or machinery failures, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, equipment needs, and disputes.
  • Review daily time sheets to ensure accurate job cost data and provide input for budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking.
  • Interpret and explain plant operations, construction plans, and contract terms to staff, workers, and others.
  • Organize and schedule crews and resources to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.
  • Conduct technical training for management and team members to ensure optimal plant operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate work performed by outside contractors and vendors.
  • Take action to address delays, bad weather, or emergencies, ensuring that production schedules are met.
  • Suggest or initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, terminations, and new hires.
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, regulations, and guidelines (DOT, OSHA, MSHA).

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of plant operations, with a focus on concrete, crusher, and asphalt plants.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with the ability to assess and resolve equipment issues.
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of HCSS and Heavy Job systems preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in plant maintenance, with specific experience in concrete, crusher, or asphalt operations.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in Civil Heavy Highway or construction environments.
