Job Title: Concrete & Density Quality Control Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor fresh concrete properties and verify compliance with approved mix designs and project specifications. Assist with trial batches, mix adjustments, troubleshooting, and evaluation of concrete performance.
• Perform aggregate sampling, moisture testing, and other routine material checks as assigned.
• Inspect aggregate stockpiles and material storage areas for contamination, segregation, or other quality concerns.
• Maintain accurate field reports, test records, batch-related QC documentation, and specimen tracking. Immediately report out-of-specification or unusual concrete results to the Quality Control Manager.
• Perform slump testing, measure concrete temperature and air content. Determine unit weight, yield, and gravimetric air content
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma, valid Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Report required.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and electronic reporting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving density, moisture, percent compaction, and concrete testing.
- Ability to read project specifications, mix designs, batch tickets, Proctor reports, and testing documentation. Clear communication of test results and nonconforming conditions
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade I (preferred)
- Nuclear Gauge Operator / Radiation Safety Training as required by the company's radioactive materials license (preferred). Safe operation and handling of nuclear density gauges.
- Agency-specific certifications (TxDOT, municipal, airport, or other owner requirements) when applicable to assigned projects. Hazardous Materials / DOT transportation training when required for assigned nuclear gauge transportation duties.
- Ability to Work outdoors at active construction sites and batch plants in varying weather conditions. Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work around heavy equipment.
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing approximately 50-75lbs
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in airport and/or highway construction
- Minimum of 5 years of quality control experience on large heavy civil projects
- Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
- DFW Airport Experience is a plus
